Preaching on Access to the Presence of God

Access to the Presence of God

The profound and sacred truth of access to the very presence of God. It's a concept that stirs within us a sense of awe and wonder, a longing to stand before the Almighty. We explore this divine access, guided by the wisdom of Psalms, Isaiah, John, Romans, Ephesians, Hebrews, and 1 Peter.

We gather here, not to discuss a distant, unattainable ideal, but to understand the intimate and transformative reality of drawing near to our Creator. Let us delve into the scriptures and discover the path to His presence.

1. Who Can Enter the Presence of God? (Psalm 24:3):

"Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?"

Not everyone can simply walk into the presence of God. The scriptures remind us that holiness and purity are required. This is not a matter of human perfection, but a heart dedicated to the Lord, a life reflecting His character.

2. A Pure Heart and Clean Hands: The Condition for Access (Psalm 24:4):

"He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol, or swear deceitfully."

God desires a sincere heart and hands free from wrongdoing. Integrity and freedom from idolatry are essential. Brothers and sisters, let us examine our hearts. Are we living with integrity before the Lord?

3. The Gates of Justice Open to the Faithful (Isaiah 26:2):

"Open the gates, that the righteous nation, the one that keeps faith, may enter in."

Access to God’s presence is granted to the righteous, those who live in obedience to the truth. Living according to God’s Word opens the gates of His Kingdom.

4. Jesus is the Door to God's Presence (John 10:9):

"I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture."

There is no other way to approach God except through Jesus. He is the door, the only path to the Father's presence and abundant life. Have you passed through this door that is Christ?

5. The Only Way to the Father (John 14:6):

"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Jesus is not just a guide; He is the way itself. Our fellowship with God depends on a real, living relationship with Jesus.

6. Justified by Faith, We Have Access to God (Romans 5:2):

"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

Faith in Jesus grants us access to God’s grace. We are not dependent on our own works, but on the righteousness of Christ. Access to God’s presence is a gift, freely given to those who believe.

7. The Holy Spirit Guides Us into the Presence of the Father (Ephesians 2:18):

"For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father."

The Holy Spirit leads us into God’s presence, teaching us to walk according to the Father's will. In prayer and worship, the Spirit takes us to the most holy place.

8. Confidence and Assurance in Approaching God (Ephesians 3:12):

"In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him."

In Christ, we can enter God’s presence with confidence. Faith gives us the boldness to speak to the Father without fear. Do you approach God with confidence or with fear and doubt?

9. The Blood of Jesus Opened the Way for Us (Hebrews 10:19):

"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus."

Christ’s sacrifice opened the way to the Holy of Holies. Now, we can approach God without barriers. The blood of Jesus is sufficient to purify us and bring us into His presence.

10. God Hears the Righteous and Opens Doors for Them (1 Peter 3:12 & Revelation 3:8):

"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." and "I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. For you have kept my word, and have not denied my name."

God answers those who live in obedience and righteousness. When we remain faithful, He opens doors that no one can close. God desires fellowship with us, but He expects us to be faithful.
