Servant: A person who performs uties for others. A devoted and helpful follower or supporter.
A person who preforms duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic duties or a personal assistant.

As Christians we are supposed to be servants to everyone

Synonyms: helper, supporter, follower

What reasons do we have to Serve God?

Servanthood is a sacrifice but also a privilege. Christians are to be at God’s disposal

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

Isaiah 59:15-17 - “… he was appalled that there was no-one to intervene; so his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.

God blesses us everyday

James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father

He deserves it. We have a debt that we cannot repay, We have an obligation

The attitude of a servant

Is a mindset we adopt (1 Cor. 9:19)
Is without consideration of repayment (Luke 6:34-35
Is unselfish (Philippians 2:3-8)
Is putting others first (Romans 12:10)

1. Be a servant: To the scriptures

A spiritual servant is a person who chooses to dedicate his life to God. He serves God by doing things that help him grow in his spirituality and in his understanding of the teachings of Christ. He receives blessings from God that inspire and help him in his earthly living. Essentially, he gives up temporal blessings in order to gain spiritual blessings.

All Christians are called to be servants of the scriptures. What does it mean to be a servant of the scripture?

It is to humble ones self and to put God first
It is to lose your life in service to God through scripture
It is the opposite of pride and arrogance, we will never know everything.

Jesus’ definition on being a servant of the scriptures (John 13:3-17)
What can we do if we are servants of the scripture?

You can become humbled and live for God
You can gain knowledge
You can increase your confidence when it comes to the Bible and evangelism

2. Be a servant: To the lost/For God

Who is lost? (Mark 16:16)

How can we better serve them?
Lead by example (1 Corinthians 11:1)
We are to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:16)
We are to be different (Romans 12:2)

Be a servant: To the lost. How do we make the lost, found? Evangelism

Rejoicing in heaven will happen when the lost are found. How much do you have to not like someone to not tell them about Jesus?

Christians are identified as Workers (1 Thessalonians 1:3), (Matthew 5:41-42), e servants of God (John 12:26). As servants for God we must: Plan, set goals for our work and service to God. Prepare- Ecclesiastes 10:10. Engage ourselves in worship. Finish what we start, We must influence each other to be active when it comes to worshiping God (Hebrews 10:24-25)

3. Don't Be a Unforgiving Servant Matthew 18:23-35

All of us are familiar with this parable. We’ve heard about the enormous debt that one servant owed. I have also always thought of this parable as the ungrateful servant. Ungratefulness to his master is demonstrated in several ways: Do we pay attention to the fact that the servant at some point was given 10,000 talents? All indications are that he had not attempted to pay any of it back.

Ungratefulness to his master is demonstrated in several ways: Not to mention the fact that the master forgave him of this enormous debt. Then, the servant proceeds to have his fellow servant arrested for a rather insignificant debt. Do we consider how this also affected his master? He has cost his master a servant!

We are like this ungrateful servant in that we…..We are the ones with the 10,000 talent debt.

Instead, in many cases, we go through life and behave as though God owes us something. We forget that every good thing that we enjoy is a blessing from Him- James 1:17. What good are we doing with our blessings? I realize that it is impossible to pay God back for what he has done for us; but, is there no feeling of indebtedness? We’ve become very good at accep ting and pretty bad about giving back.

Conclusion

A God servant's primary duty is to sacrifice interests for the good of his master- Godthe Father- without expecting any rewards himself. However, Jesus Christ is an excellent example of a perfect spiritual servant because He chose voluntarily to sacrifice everything for His Master's sake. Therefore, anyone can become a perfect spiritual servant if he consistently applies what He knows about sacrificial service toward others
