1. God Commands Us to Have Courage (Joshua 1:9)


God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous, reassuring him that He would always be present. We, too, must walk in boldness, trusting in His promises.

2. Courage Leads Us to Conquer Promises (Joshua 1:6)


God assured Joshua that courage was necessary to lead His people into the Promised Land. Courage enables us to claim God’s promises for our lives.

  • Planning and Goals Proverbs 20:18; 21:5a; Philippians 3:14
  • Fervent Prayers Nehemiah 1:4-11; 2:4; 4:4-5, 9; 6:9 Colossians 4:2; James 5:16; I Thess. 5:17

3. God Strengthens the Courageous (Isaiah 41:10)


God promises to strengthen, help, and uphold those who trust in Him. We do not stand in our own strength but in His power.


4. We Must Trust God's Word to Succeed (Joshua 1:8)


God instructed Joshua to meditate on His Word day and night for success. True courage comes from obedience to God's Word.

  • Read Through the Entire New Testament! I Timothy 4:13; Ephesians 3:1-6; 5:17; Col. 4:16; I Thessalonians 5:27
  • End a Bad Habit, Begin a Good Habit! Smoking, Temper, Corrupt Speech, TV, Video Games, Facebook, Internet Surfing, Etc.
  • Study, Pray, Visit Sick, Family Time, Attendance Make at Least One Spiritual Contact Matthew 9:36-38

5. Courage Moves Us Forward in Faith (Philippians 4:13)


Through Christ, we have the strength to face any situation. Courage allows us to step out in faith and accomplish God’s will.


6. Courage Overcomes Fear (2 Timothy 1:7)


God has given us a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline, not fear. When we embrace His Spirit, fear loses its grip on us.


7. Courage to Obey God (Acts 5:29)


The apostles boldly declared that they must obey God rather than men. We need the same courage to stand for God’s truth in all circumstances.


8. Courage to Persevere in the Fight (Hebrews 10:35-36)


We are called to endure, trusting that God will reward our faithfulness. Courage helps us remain steadfast in trials.


9. Courage to Stand Firm in the Word (Ephesians 6:10-11)


God equips us with His armor so we can stand against the enemy’s attacks. We must be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.


10. Courage Leads Us to Victory in Christ (Romans 8:37)


Through Christ, we are more than conquerors. Courage enables us to walk in the victory that He has already secured for us.
